Elon Musk! A picture of perfection. Name any, tech, Politics, or drama; we never saw Elon loosening his ground of standards, but guess what? The controversial king, the Tesla owner, couldn’t keep his high standards this time.
Targeting AI: Tesla undervalues self-driving safety tech
Tesla’s self-driving technology fails to detect children on the road. Reports, The Guardian
The most recent in a string of allegations and inquiries of the technology to slam the top electric vehicle manufacturer in the world, a safe-technology advocacy group stated on August 9 that Tesla’s full self-driving software poses a possibly fatal risk to underage pedestrians.
The software analyzer group Dawn project took a safety test on the latest version of Tesla, and it came out that the self-driving automotive car (FSD) Beta software repeatedly hit a stationary, child-sized mannequin in its path. This appears that the technology has trouble to recognize children in its way.
Therefore, the Dawn project owner Dan O’Dowd, a self-described billionaire and founder of Green Hills Software, form an ad campaign urging the public to pressure Congress to ban Tesla’s auto-driving technology.
The test results made public on the Dawn Project website have been dubbed “deeply disturbing” by O’Dowd, who also referred to Tesla’s software as “a lethal threat to all Americans.”
“More than 100,000 Tesla drivers are already operating their vehicles in Full Self-Driving mode on public roads, placing children in communities across the country at significant risk,” he continued.
In light of the findings, O’Dowd stated that self-driving cars should be outlawed until Tesla can demonstrate that they “will not mow down children in crosswalks”.
Tesla has rebuffed criticisms that its self-driving technology is still insufficiently advanced to ensure the safety of the car’s passengers and other road users.

.
O’Dowd reportedly spent several million dollars on “an ad campaign to attack Tesla’s Full Self-Driving Beta program with the goal of having it banned from public roads in the US” under the cover of political advertisements.
Furthermore, Dawn Project claims it is irresponsible for Tesla to use its Full Self-Driving software on public roads. According to polls, the organization has conducted, 93% of people think that fully autonomous vehicles that could strike a child in a crosswalk should be barred from using public roads right away.

Elon Musk’s Intake
“Fake”
Musk responded to Dawn Project testing as Fake with a laughing emoji, denying all the statements that O’Dowd made against the unsafe driving of Tesla.
Mr. Musk also referred to its rival automotive software company as “a pile of trash” when social media users pointed out Mr. O’Dowd’s affiliation with a competing automotive software company.
.
.
According to O ‘Dowd;
“Tesla keeps emphasizing features and promotional ploys rather than fixing crucial safety flaws. Even Elon claimed that Tesla’s main goals were Smart Summon, Auto Park, and Optimus
rather than ensuring that FSD won’t hit kids. It is obvious that Tesla’s priorities are incorrect, and the regulator has to intervene and turn the software off until all of the problems we’ve found are resolved.”

Not just that, a full driving video titled Dawn Project releases the Dawn Project Super Bowl Commercial as evidence of unsafe driving for Americans.
Final Words
The Dawn project’s assertion is a major setback for Elon Musk. It appears that 2023 is the year of Elon Musk. First, the launch of Threads, and then the Tesla catastrophe! What’s coming next? Follow AI Ideology to be informed about all the latest news.
